What a Day

What a Day

It's hard to believe, today is the 17th year anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attack.  For the rest of us it’s just another day at work.  I left the office around 7:40 PM. I was trying to finish up publishing my new update for this National Workshop Calendar web tool I created for our workshop presenters. I needed to add a new field called "Time Zone". It sounds very simple but a lot of work actually.  I need to add a new column in my SQL table, update four SQL stored procedures, add a new field in the "Add New Event" and "Update Event" forms and update 5 ASP.Net web pages.  It took maybe 7 minutes to publish these changes to production.  While in the middle of testing the new changes, I realize I forgot to update 13 more ASP.Net pages and these web pages use maybe at least 13 SQL stored procedures. These are the web pages that allow users to export the workshop search results into MS-Excel. Almost done!  I have one more ASP.Net web pages and three more SQL stored procedures to update but I am so tired.  I need to go home to my pregnant wife.  We are having twin boys and it's been a struggle for my wife since day one.  This is the 17th weeks anniversary of her miscarriage last year and she is having the same symptoms - early contractions.  I have a 10-minute walk to get to the parking lot where I parked my car.  I cannot believe what I see when I get to my car.  I have a flat tire on my rear left passenger side!  I have a flat tire on my rear right side a few weeks ago but I was able to drive the car home.  This one is really bad.  It is completely flat and the car is not drivable.

The first thing I did is to call my wife to let her know of my situation.  Then I try to figure out how to fix this by myself.  I grab my phone and started searching videos in you tube. I cannot follow what this video is showing me here. I am having a panic attack now.

I decided to call my auto insurance Progressive road side assistance hotline.  I need a quick fix.  I need to go home to my wife as early as I can.  I cannot believe the number I called is prompting me to press one to claim my $100 gift certificate.  I don’t know what to do at this point so I press 0 then eventually I spoke to a human being.  I asked him if it is Progressive insurance road side assistance I called.  The guy said yes.  So, I asked him if he can get someone to help me with my flat tire.  He told me to call the number again and do not press 1.  I called the number two times because it keeps prompting me to press 1 to claim my $100 gift certificate.  I am cursing at this point and I am losing my patience.  I looked at the phone number I called and so embarrassed to myself that I called the wrong number I miss one number.  I dialed five instead of a six.

I eventually connected to the road side assistance representative and help is on its way in 35 minutes.  I cannot wait for 35 minutes.  I looked at the video one more time and I finally figure out that I need to take the plastic cup cover out where I can unscrew the spare tire.  Thanks God I have this five-year-old jack I brought with me from New Jersey when I moved here in Florida in March 2012.  I cannot use the jack from this Hyundai spare tire kit.  I am really in hurry to go home.  I am sweeting so hard and dirt is all over my pants and shirt.  I finally able to unscrew the flat tire and before I put in the spare tire in I called my wife and tell her that I will be home soon.  I tried to facetime with her and show her what I just did but it was a little too dark.  I was able to cancel the road side assistance help from the text Progressive insurance sent me.  Now I am on my way home finally.  A few blocks from home I have to take the detour.  Constructions are in every corner of this community.  I finally home around 10PM.  I am rushing to get this blog publish tonight.I have to remind myself to be patient. I did see another you tube video and this is much better

this is much better than the one I was watching before.  It doesn’t matter anyway.  I figured it out myself the hard way.

What a day!
